Emenike, Osaze will shine – Nwosu

1980 African Cup of Nations winner, Henry Nwosu has tipped Fenebahce forward Emmanuel Emenike and Stoke City striker, Osaze Odemwingie to light up the 2014 World Cup stage in Brazil. With about 12 days to the kickoff of the world’s greatest show at the Maracana Stadium in Sao Paolo on June 12, expectations are growing that the African champions will go beyond the second round, which remains their best feat since making their debut at the 1994 finals in the United States of America. Emenike capped a spectacular outing at the last African Cup of Nations in South Africa, where a emerged the highest goal-scorer and going into next month’s World Cup in land of Samba, the 27 year-old former Spartak Moscow striker is being counted upon again by Nwosu to be the arrowhead of Nigeria’s charge for success. Emenike and Osaze “I have no doubt at all that Emmanuel Emenike will be the star of the Super Eagles. He will do very well for us because he has an eye for goals and is a dependable team player. His form at the Nations Cup was good and I know that he will do even better in Brazil. “When you look at Emenike, you see a quality striker, who knows how to position himself for goals. He can also create opportunities for himself and his teammate. His temperament is also commendable and I know that the coach will get the best out of him at the World Cup. “Another quality that stands him out is his quest for success, which I believe is very important for players to have during a major tournament like the World Cup. His self-belief will definitely rub off on his teammates in Brazil”, added Nwosu, in chat with Sports Vanguard. The Gateway United coach also propped up returnee striker, Osaze Odemwingie to be one of the linchpins of Nigeria’s quest for glory in Brazil. “I also strongly believe that Osaze will do very well at the World Cup. Osaze is a very good player on any day and the fact that he has recognised that character maters a lot shows that he has changed and wants to contribute meaningfully to the team. “Another player who will do very well in Onazi. The Lazio midfieler has shown overtime that he is in tune with the demands of the occasion and at the World Cup, I see him playing a very key role in our quest to go beyond the second round”, said the one-time Union Bank trainer.
