Enyeama Wins Marc-vivien Foé Award In France

Vincent Enyeama has won the RFI – FRANCE 24 Marc-Vivien Foé Award for the best African player in the French Ligue 1 football championship for the 2013-14 season. The 31 year old was picked over Cameroonian Henri Bedimo of Olympique Lyonnais and Ivorian Serge Aurier of Toulouse FC by a jury composed of French football journalists. Enyeama’s impressive performance saw him keep a clean sheet for 11 consecutive matches, approximately 1062 minutes, as Lille went on to secure Ligue 1′s the 3rd Champions League spot for 2014/2015 season. He was also impressive for the Super Eagles in the last CAF Nations Cup which Nigeria won and is already part of Nigeria’s Brazil 2014 squad. Enyeama lost the Professional Footballers Union (UNFP) best goalkeeper to Paris Saint Germain’s goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu on Sunday evening. The award, originally called Trophy for the Best African Ligue 1 Player, was renamed the Marc-Vivien Foé Award in 2011 to honour the Cameroonian player who died during a football match in 2003.
