I didn’t storm out of APC meeting in Abuja –Amosun

… Says ‘I’ve done everything to satisfy Osoba’ Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has described as white lies, the allegation that he stormed out of a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders last Tuesday in Abuja. Briefing APC leaders in the state on the outcome of the meeting, which had been widely reported, Amosun said he had great respect for not only the party, but its state and national executive members. According to him, he left the venue of the meeting after due permission from the interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, who presided over the meeting. On arrival at the meeting, Amosun told party chieftains that he had informed those present including Chief Akande that he would leave early because of preparations for the Investors Forum holding in the state the following day. Ogun State hosted its second World Investors Forum Day on Wednesday during which former Mexican president, Vicente Fox, was the guest speaker. He also told the gathering of elders who gathered at the ‘Mission To Rebuild’ hall, Ibara in Abeokuta, the state capital that he left the venue with the permission of elders of the party, including Chief Akande. His words: “It will be wrong for anyone or group to say, write or insinuate that I stormed out of the meeting when I actually received the permission of our revered party Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande.” He told the APC stakeholders that he informed the national leadership of the party that he had done everything to carry along the state leader, Chief Olusegun Osoba in his administration. Amosun went further to tell the party faithful that he pleaded with those present to ask Chief Osoba what exactly he wanted from him because he had done everything humanly possible to carry him along in whatever his administration was doing, but things seemed not to be in order. The governor told the leaders that Chief Osoba could not respond to his question before he left after due permission from Akande. “I did not storm out as widely reported, rather I left the venue of the meeting after proper permission from the chairman of the meeting and others because of the Investors Forum billed for the following day,” he said.
